70 oil fields, 3000 wells: If you live in LA, you live near an oil field or a refinery. Urban oil drilling and production is not acceptable. We refuse to let the oil industry use our bodies as toxic waste dumps for their pollution. Together, we can win this fight.
Become citizen-reporters! Video or photograph drilling, trucks, spills, etc., upload to Youtube and send us the link and/or the photos.
Tell your elected officials! Find out who represents you and how to contact them.
If you smell chemical odors, and especially Hydrogen Sulfide (smells like rotten eggs, and causes frontal lobe damage), report it to the AQMD. Call 1-800-CUT-SMOG. And encourage your neighbors to call also.
Stand up and speak out! Get informed and get involved. Attend a hearing or a rally and become part of the solution. Your voice makes a huge difference.
It's time for environmental justice for low-income communities that are disproportionately impacted by urban pollution. It's time for a just transition for oil industry workers to build the renewable energy economy. It's time for you to get involved, so join us!
"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." ~ Samuel Adams
