Justice Delayed is Justice Denied Community Action Day!

August, 19th, 9:30 am, at Budlon: July 14th marked the 400th day since our community filed with the City for nuisance abatement at the Jefferson Drill Site. Nearly six months have passed since the public hearing in January and still the City has not issued a determination. Nearly a hundred residents gave 2 hours worth of compelling and moving testimony on the health and safety issues caused this facility. We are now far beyond the two months promised to the community and specified in the City's municipal code for issuing a decision. Meanwhile, the harms are on-going.

Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Justice too long delayed, is justice denied."

On Saturday morning, August 19th, neighbors and community members will gather on Budlong Ave adjacent to the Jefferson Drill Site for a Community Action Day, calling on the City to stop delaying justice for our community.

National Drive Electric Week Event - Watts

September 16th, 10 am - 4 pm, St. John's United Methodist Church, 1715 Santa Ana Blvd N, Los Angeles, CA 90002: Following the success of last year's event, we plan an even better event for this year. St. John's has a spacious parking lot right across the street from the famous Watts Towers and Arts Center. The Watts Neighborhood Council will again sponsor us, and with a new charger in Watts, plus five more on the way, adoption of EV's is far more feasible now. We'll do presentations in schools leading unto the event, and we'll invite back the great presenters we had last year to help people get signed up for the generous rebates and incentives available in the area. Our event was mentioned today in a national Webinar by Sierra Club campaign staff as a huge success, so the Club's support will again energize the event.
